Dear Diary,
My name is Lady Josephine Mounthall. Recently my husband of six months died in the arms of his latest lover in the back room of a dirty establishment. Was I surprised about this fact? Only that his lover happened to be another man.
If I were to be truthful with you, I would have to say, that I never laved my husband, after all I was betrothed to him when I was still but a child. I grew up with the knowledge that I was a disappointment to my parents as I was not the son they wanted. I guess marrying me off to one of their dearest friends was the easiest solution for them.
My father died three months after my marriage to Lord Mounthall and my mother followed within two months of my father’s death. My husband passed from this world but a month later. So, now here I am with no other family member and only my childhood friend Lady Henrietta Grey as my confident.
Why am I telling you all this? I suppose to be able to explain something of my background, and why I have made the decision never to marry again. Instead, I shall dedicate my time to the unwanted children of London and the surrounding areas.
Now if I could just eliminate the images of one William Grey, the Duke Chesterfield from my mind, I shall be able to live a peaceful life.
